Cauliflower Manchurian (Gobi Manchurian)

Gobi Manchurian is one of our all time favorite starter. This Indo-Chinese appetizer is loved by all ages from grown-ups to kids. It is very crispy on the outside. Also it has all tastes incorporated in it. It is spicy, little bit sweet and tangy too.  It has different aroma and it attracts all ages. This can be made in minutes for evening snack. 30 minutes is more than enough to get this Manchurian ready.

Ingredients:

Cauliflower - 1 flower
All purpose flour (Maida) - 3 tbsp
Corn flour - 2 tbsp
Rice flour - 2 tbsp (optional)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Tomato sauce - 3 tsp
Chilli sauce - 2 tsp
Soy sauce - 2 tsp
Garlic - 2 cloves (finely chopped)
Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
Spring onion - 1/4 cup
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Oil - for deep frying

Note:
You can even use just corn flour or rice flour alone. Adding any of these flour gives real crispness to this dish.

Method:

1) Cut the cauliflower into florets. Boil some water and put the florets. Also add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp salt and cover it with the lid. Keep aside for about 15 mins and then strain the florets and rinse it in chill water.

2) In a bowl, take all purpose flour, rice flour, corn flour, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder and salt.

3) Add water little by little and mix it well. Do not make it too thick or thin.

4) Heat oil in a pan. Meanwhile dip all the florets in this mix and coat it well.

5) Once the oil is hot, drop these florets. Fry it well.

6) Now the crispy cauliflower fry is ready.

7) Now heat another pan and add 2 tbsp of oil. Add the chopped garlic and onion.

8) Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce and soy sauce (You can add 2 drops of red color at this stage, if you wish). Usually I don't use food colors.

9) Mix it well and add the fried florets to this.

10) Let all the florets get coated with the sauce by mixing it very well.

11) Garnish it with spring onions (I was running out of spring onion, so just garnished with cilantro).

Delicious and mouth watering Manchurian is ready to taste in minutes.
